We are ready to satisfy any customer's demand for delivering nuclear fuel of high quality

Products

Nuclear fuel for Nuclear Power Plants (with reactors working on thermal neutrons as well as fast breeder reactors) makes up 90%, i.e. the larger portion of PJSC Mashinostroitelny Zavod (PJSC MSZ) production program. The fuel is manufactured and supplied as fuel assemblies (FAs) for different reactor types.

In 2015 PJSC MSZ mastered the process and reached full operating capacity in manufacture of absorber rods (ARs) and rod cluster control assemblies (RCCAs) for all types of nuclear power facilities.

A full-scale manufacture of FAs for high power channel type reactors RBMK‑1000 started in 1973, and RBMK‑1500 – in 1982.

Deliveries by geographic region:

Russia

• Leningrad NPP (RBMK-1000) - 4 units
• Kursk NPP (RBMK-1000)- 4 units
• Smolensk NPP (RBML-1000)- 3 units

A full-scale manufacture of FAs for water-water energy reactors VVER‑440 started in 1972, and currently we supply FAs for this reactor type to NPPs situated in Russia, CIS countries as well as Europe, namely in:

• Finland, Loviisa NPP‑ 2 units

• Czech Republic, Dukovany NPP – 4 units

• Slovakia, Mochovce NPP – 2 units, Bohunice NPP ‑ 2 units

• Hungary, Paks NPP ‑ 4 units

• Armenia, Metsamor NPP- 1 unit

• Russia, Novovoronezh NPP – 2 units, Kola NPP – 4 units.

• Ukraine, Rivne NPP ‑ 2 units

The NPPs situated in Finland and Hungary are recognised among the world’s top ten in terms of one of the key performance indicators – installed capacity utilization factor (ICUF).

In 2010 twelve 3rd-generation shroudless FAs were the first FAs manufactured and supplied to Kola NPP, unit 4, and in 2016 – another nine FAs.

A full-scale manufacture of water-water energy reactor VVER‑1000 FAs started at PJSC MSZ in 1998, these FAs are supplied to Kalinin NPP (VVER-1000 of TVSA design), initially to operating units 1 and 2, and, after commissioning, to unit 3 (in 2003) and unit 4 (in 2011).

Since 2005, PJSC MSZ has been regularly supplying VVER-1000 of TVSA design to Ukranian NPPs, namely to:

• South-Ukraine NPP;

• Rivne NPP;

• Khmelnitsky NPP.

Since 2010 PJSC MSZ products have been put to operation at Temelin NPP in the Czech Republic(VVER-1000 of TVSA design) – 2 units.

In 2014 PJSC MSZ manufactured 50 FAs as well as 50 RCCAs of VVER-1200 design for Leningrad-2 NPP.

In 1980 PJSC MSZ started the fuel manufacture for fast breeder reactor BN‑600. The finished FAs are supplied to unit 3 of Beloyarsk NPP (Russia). Previously PJSC MSZ used to manufacture and deliver nuclear fuel for fast research reactor BOR-60 (Russia) and fast reactor BN‑350 (Kazakhstan). All research and advanced development used in BOR‑60 and BN-350 were applied in BN-600 design. In 2015 PJSC MSZ manufactured the upgraded FAs for BN-800 and supplied them to Beloyarsk NPP.

In 2004 PJSC MSZ prepared the production, manufactured and supplied a set of FAs to be loaded into the China Experimental Fast Reactor – CEFR.

In 1976 PJSC MSZ started to supply FAs for graphite-moderated boiling-water reactor EGP-6 to Bilibino NHPP (Nuclear Heat and Power Plant).

In 1993 PJSC MSZ started to work in cooperation with Siemens, subsequently since 2001 ‑ Framatome ANP, and since 2006 – Areva NP (currently AREVA GmbH). The cooperation scope includes FA manufacture for PWR and BWR reactor types developed by the German specialists. The manufactured fuel is supplied to Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Netherland and the UK.

In 2000 PJSC MSZ started cooperation with the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, and under the contract manufactures fuel pellets to be loaded in fuel pins of pressurised heavy-water reactors (PHWR) and boiling water reactors (BWR).

In 2011 PJSC MSZ manufactured two cores for the floating NPP.

In 2013 PJSC MSZ manufactured the 3000-th FA for AREVA.

In 2014 PJSC MSZ manufactured the first fuel rods (FRs) for next-generation nuclear icebreaker LK-60 “Arktika” (currently under construction).
